The origin of this family branch is the tiny village of Kings Nympton in North Devon.
Three sons who were Stone Masons travelled to Cornwall with their work, and eventually
settled in the beautiful coastal port of East Looe. Only one of the brothers seems
to have had offspring, but from him a huge family tree extends - The Shapcott Family
During the second half of the 19th century many of these Shapcott descendants left
their home town of Looe in search of work and better prospects. Some moved to London,
others journeyed overseas to start new lives. There are quite a number of descendants
in now living in Queensland, Australia, and some in the United States of America.
